MCE releases N5563 Neodymium Iron Boron

Torrance, CA -- (BUSINESS WIRE SYSTEM) — November 1, 2002 -- MagneticComponent Engineering, Inc., a California Corporation, located in the City ofTorrance has announced that it has released N5563, a new grade of Neodymium Iron Boron, for production.

Magnets made from Neodymium Iron Boron are the strongest of magnet materials. Typically maximum energy products achieved were in the range of 26 MGOe to 48 MGOe, and two years ago 50 MGOe. Before the release of the N5563, MCE guaranteed a minimum energy product on their N5062 at 48.5 MGOe and a minimum Br of 13,900 Gauss. This had been an industry breakthrough. The N5563 pushes the envelope. The N5563 has a guaranteed minimum energy product of 53.0 MGOe and a Br of 14,800 Gauss.

Magnetic Component Engineering had offered a 53 MGOe material since January 2000, however, production was extremely limited. The cost was high, and the material had limitations as it was designed primarily for cryogenic, space, and deep space applications where temperatures drop below 4K. The introduction of N5563 gives designers the high Br values with the ability to use the material for commercial and defense applications at room temperature and above.
