Planned Shutdowns

Magnetic Component Engineering has two planned shutdowns, during which there is no production work done at the facility.

Summer Shutdown

MCE takes the entire week of July 4th off, and normal business hours commence on the Monday following the July 4th week.  In the event that July 4th falls on a weekend, MCE will be closed the week that the Federal Government observes the July 4th holiday

Winter Shutdown

MCE closes operations on the last Friday of the week preceeding December 24th and resumes its operations on the first business day after the New Year's Holiday (working day after January 1st).

Purpose of Shutdowns

These shutdowns are important as to give employees time off and conduct necessary maintenance, upgrades, disaster recovery exercises, and system tests that would otherwise not be possible during operational times.  In addition, planned shutdowns allow for changes that require shutdown of resources, such as power, water, gas, and telecommunication systems.  Safe upgrades to certain equipment can only be done when such resources are shut down.

Effect on Quoted Lead Times

Planned shutdown days may not be counted as production days when calculating the lead times to manufacture products.  Expedited orders must also deduct these planned shutdown days.

In the event you are not sure if your product will be affected, consult with your sales representative or contact the National Sales Manager.
